New York Jets' Star Defensive Lineman Will Miss Week 15

The New York Jets will be without their superstar defensive tackle for Week 15's crucial showdown with the Detroit Lions. Defensive lineman Quinnen Williams has been officially declared inactive ahead of Sunday's game. Williams missed practice all week with a calf injury sustained in last week's 20-12 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He was sensational before his exit, logging 2.0 sacks and two tackles for loss on only 17 snaps. Despite three missed practices, he was listed as questionable on the Jets' final injury report.

Williams has emerged as a superstar this season, his fourth in the league. He has notched 11.0 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 13 appearances for the Jets this year, establishing himself as perhaps the best player on a defense that has allowed the third-fewest yards in the league. His absence could prove devastating for a 7-6 Jets squad that desperately needs a win to stay alive in the AFC Wildcard race.

Williams entered the league as the Jets' third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was solid across his first three seasons in the league, totalling 15.5 sacks and 83 tackles over 41 appearances. His incredible play this year could earn him an extension that places him among the league's highest-paid defenders.
