Pittsburgh Steelers Running Back Cleared for Week 13

The Pittsburgh Steelers we'll have their workhouse ready when they take the field against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13. Running back Najee Harris told reporters in Pittsburgh on Friday that he'll be good to go for Sunday's game. Harris exited the Steelers' Week 12 Monday Night Football win over the Indianapolis Colts after 20 snaps due to an abdomen injury. His status was up in the air for much of the week, but he'll apparently be able to gut out Sunday's game on a short week.

Harris has shouldered an incredible load for the Steelers this season with mixed results. He has rushed for 585 yards but at a mediocre 3.7 yards per attempt, and he has nabbed 29 receptions for 129 yards at a middling 3.9 yards per target. Harris dominates touches for what is a poor Steelers offense; they rank 28th in points scored and yards gained. But if he were the problem, the team would spread opportunities elsewhere. They clearly believe him a better alternative than any other back on their roster.

Harris joined the Steelers as their 24th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. If anything, he took on an even larger role as a rookie, leading the league with 381 touches on his way to 1667 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns. A big, powerful back and a capable receiver out of the backfield, Harris has a rare skillset that should flourish if the rest of the Steelers offense can improve around him, so long as the team doesn't run him into the ground first.
