San Francisco 49ers Clear Key Offensive Stars For Week 14

The San Francisco 49ers will have their full arsenal of weapons on display when they welcome quarterback Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14. Running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel weren't listed on Friday's injury report, indicating they're good to go for Sunday's showdown.

McCaffrey was limited in practice Tuesday and Wednesday with a knee injury. Samuel was also limited for two days with a quadriceps injury. Neither has missed time in recent weeks. Samuel missed Week 8 with a hamstring injury.

McCaffrey and Samuel are the 49ers' leaders in yards from scrimmage ever since McCaffrey joined the the team in Week 7, so their availability should come as a relief to a 49ers team trying to survive the absence of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. As perhaps the premier receiver at running back and runner at wide receiver, they present matchup nightmares for opposing defenses and should make things as easy as possible on rookie quarterback Brock Purdy.

McCaffrey joined the 49ers via a blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers earlier this season. He has totalled 589 yards from scrimmage in six appearances with the team. Samuel entered the league as the 49ers 36th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He earned a three-year, $71.55 million extension earlier this year thanks to a colossal 2021 season in which he compiled 1770 yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns. Though still a thrilling player, his efficiency has tailed off this season: after averaging 11.6 yards per target last season, he's down to 6.6 this year.
