Seattle Seahawks Wide Receiver to Play in Week 14

The Seattle Seahawks can breathe a sigh of relief. Speaking at his Friday press conference, head coach Pete Carroll said wide receiver DK Metcalf will play in Sunday's matchup with the Carolina Panthers despite missing practice this week with a hip injury.

Metcalf has appeared in all 12 games for the Seahawks this year while fighting through a hip injury, among other ailments. He has hauled in 67 receptions for 798 yards and nine touchdowns.

Metcalf has been a huge part of a surprising 7-5 Seahawks team this season. The offense ranks fifth in points scored, and starting quarterback Geno Smith has shocked the world by averaging 264.1 passing yards per game with a 108.7 passer rating. The Seahawks ranked 16th last year in their final season under long-term starter Russell Wilson.

Metcalf initially joined the Seahawks as their 64th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He immediately announced himself as a powerful, overwhelming physical presence at wide receiver, nabbing 58 receptions for 900 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie. His 3170 yards and 29 touchdowns across his first three seasons earned him a three-year $72 million extension earlier this year.
