Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver Exits With Head Injury

The Tennesse Titans suffered a thorough, humiliating defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13, and its effects could linger well past this afternoon. Wide receiver Treylon Burks was removed from the game with a head injury and did not return. Burks suffered an apparent concussion on a crunching hit as he came down with a dramatic touchdown catch. He has missed four games this season due to a stint on injured reserve stemming from a toe injury.

Burks' departure would basically end any chance the Titans had at competing on Sunday. He accounted for the team's only touchdown of the game in the first quarter, and the offense struggled for the remainder of the day. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill netted 106 yards passing on 28 dropbacks, absorbing six sacks before exiting with the game out of reach in the fourth quarter. Running back Derrick Henry toiled to an ineffectual 30 rushing yards on 11 carries.  In the end, the Eagles cruised to an easy 35-10 victory.

Burks joined the Titans as their 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has totalled 334 receiving yards in seven appearances with the team this year at an efficient 9.3 yards per target. He was acquired in part to offset the loss of wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade with the Eagles. Brown torched the Titans for 119 yards and two touchdowns in today's game.
