Dallas Cowboys Release Wide Receiver

He's been informed of his release.

The Dallas Cowboys are releasing wide receiver James Washington.

After joining the Cowboys on a one-year deal last March, Washington appeared poised to be one of the team's top-three receivers while Michael Gallup worked back from an ACL tear. Unfortunately, Washington suffered a fractured right foot early in training camp which has limited him to just two games this season.

Washington was cleared to return in Week 14, but he ended up playing just 14 snaps between his first two games with Dallas before being benched the past two. With the addition of T.Y. Hilton, the team has no use for Washington anymore and will instead give him the chance to find a larger role elsewhere.

There's a very good chance a team claims the twenty-six-year-old off waivers in the coming days. Last season, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington recorded 24 receptions for 285 yards and two touchdowns on 44 targets.
