Jets Coach Say Running Back Is A Big Part Of 2023 Team Plans

He's coming off a torn Achilles suffered at the end of the 2021 season.

New York Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur said that running back James Robinson is a ''big part" of the team's plans for the 2023 season.

LaFleur went on to say that Robinson's torn Achilles may have played a role in his being a healthy scratch for the last month of the season. In addition, he said that this type of injury ''takes a lot of time and rehab'' to recover from, but Robinson still looked impressive at times for a player not too long removed from a torn Achilles.

Given LaFleur's words, it would not be surprising to see Robinson take on a bigger role next season, especially with rookie stud Breece Hall not expected to be ready to take on a full workload by the start of the 2023 season. Still, there's Zonovan Knight who, at times, has looked pretty impressive during his rookie season.

The Jets traded a late-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars to acquire Robinson when Breece Hall went down for the season. Because they gave up so little to acquire him, however, the team likely doesn't feel like they have to give him a big role.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
