San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator Ryans to Interview With 4 Teams This Week

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Demeco Ryans will be very busy this week as he prepares for a Divisional Round matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. The former Pro Bowl linebacker has head coaching interviews with the Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, and Houston Texans.

Ryans took over as the 49ers' defensive coordinator in 2021. They allowed the ninth-fewest points and the third-fewest yards in the league in his debut season before climbing to the top spot in both categories this year. Ryan also earned two Pro Bowls and a Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 10 seasons as a linebacker for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles from 2006 to 2015.

Ryan's busy week speaks to how hot a commodity he has become. He has the success as a coach and the credentials as a player to provide ideal leadership to a rebuilding organization. At only 38 years old, he could provide a great long-term solution at head coach for any NFL franchise. A deep playoff run in the coming weeks would only enhance his value. Hopefully, his jam-packed schedule doesn't diminish the 49ers' chances against the Cowboys.
