San Francisco 49ers To Interview Veteran Coach For DC Role

The San Francisco 49ers have suffered two big losses in the past few days, as they were knocked out of the playoffs in the NFC Championship Game by Philadelphia, and now, like many expected, their Defensive Coordinator is out the door, as he has officially become the next Head Coach of the Houston Texans. 

It appears they aren't waiting around to fill the position however, as the team is going to interview veteran coach Vic Fangio this week, despite the false reports that he has already made up his mind and will be signing with the Miami Dolphins.

I'm told the #49ers are planning not only to talk to Steve Wilks (as @MikeGarafolo reported), but also in discussions to interview #Commanders defensive backs coach Chris Harris & of course Vic Fangio, per league source.

Considering the talent gap defensively between the 49ers and the Dolphins, it's certainly going to be a battle for his services, and if the Niners can stay healthy and bring him in for the 2023 season, they'll once again be seen as a Super Bowl favourite.
