Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Interview Jacksonville Jaguars Coach Jim Bob Cooter for OC

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look to a fellow Florida team for a potential answer to their offensive coordinator vacancy. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Bucs have requested to interview Jacksonville Jaguars pass-game coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.

Cooter only spent one year with the Jaguars, but he oversaw a productive season that saw the team finish 10th in passing yards and 10th in scoring. Before his stop in Jacksonville, he was best known for his time as offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions from 2015 to 2018. His 2017 Lions ranked seventh in the league in points scored, but his offenses were below average in his three other seasons calling plays.

Cooter joining the Bucs could be taken as yet another sign that the team is bracing to move on from the Tom Brady era. Cooter is a young offensive mind coming off a successful season tutoring second-year passer Trevor Lawrence. He would be a good fit for a team planning a slow and gradual rebuild with a rookie quarterback.
