"Big Push" Within Texans Organization To Sign Veteran Free Agent Quarterback

It's no secret the Houston Texans are looking to add a quarterback this offseason.

According to CBS Sports, there's reportedly a "push" within the Texans' organization to sign free agent QB Jimmy Garoppolo.

If they do sign him, the plan would be to play him in the 2023 season while also drafting a QB in the first round of the upcoming draft and have him sit and develop around Garoppolo the whole season.

The 31-year-old's 2022 season was cut short due to injury, but he was having a nice campaign, recording a 67.2 completion percentage and 16 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

He'll be entering his 10th NFL season in 2023.

As mentioned, the Texans will very likely take a quarterback with their first-round pick, and the team is reportedly eyeing Alabama QB Bryce Young, with head coach DeMeco Ryans saying "he's an outstanding quarterback."
