Jacksonville Jaguars Release Quarterback

The Jacksonville Jaguars have trimmed their quarterback depth chart, waiving E.J. Perry from their 90-man roster on Tuesday.

Perry, who spent last season on the Jaguars' practice squad and signed a future contract in January, was behind Trevor Lawrence and backup C.J. Beathard, who was re-signed earlier this year.

The only other quarterback remaining on the Jaguars' roster is Nathan Rourke.

Perry's journey to the NFL was initially with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he decided not to sign with them after they agreed to a deal with another rookie. He then signed with the Jaguars, hoping to find a better opportunity.

Unfortunately, Perry was unable to earn a roster spot with the team, and he will now test the open market for another chance to play professional football.

E.J. Perry played college football for the Boston College Eagles from 2017 to 2020. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 23 games and completed 191 of 342 pass attempts (55.8%) for 2,341 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He also rushed for 613 yards and 13 touchdowns on 171 carries. Photo Credit: Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports
