Las Vegas Raiders Sign Talented Former Vikings Cornerback

The Las Vegas Raiders have signed cornerback Duke Shelley, formerly of the Minnesota Vikings.

Shelley, a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, played 11 games for the Vikings last year, recording 31 total tackles and an interception while primarily playing outside corner.

He also broke up eight passes and received high coverage grades from Pro Football Focus, ranking as their No. 4 cornerback on the year.

With this signing, Shelley has a chance to earn consistent playing time for the Raiders, who are looking to bolster their cornerback corps.

He'll be competing with David Long, Nate Hobbs, Brandon Facyson, Amik Robertson, and Sam Webb for snaps in the secondary.

If Shelley can replicate his strong performance from last season, this could turn out to be an under-the-radar signing for the Raiders.

Entering his fourth NFL season, the 26-year-old has recorded 84 total tackles, one interception and 12 passes defended across 32 games played. Photo Credit: Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports
