Miami Dolphins Releasing Star Cornerback

The Miami Dolphins had a solid 2022 campaign, but they weren't able to go as far as many believed they could, and while there's many factors that contributed to this lack of playoff success, the injuries certainly played a major part.

One player that never quite lived up to expectations in Miami is former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones, and now, the team have informed him that he will officially be released on March 15th, clearing $13.6M in cap space for 2023.

Sources: Dolphins have informed CB Byron Jones that he is being released on March 15 and will have the opportunity to enter free agency. Dolphins will designate him a post-June 1 cut, saving Miami $13.6 million against its salary cap.

This was an expected move, as Jones said over a week ago that he can no longer run or jump due to the injuries he's sustained in the NFL, and given that he's yet to officially announce his retirement, his future is certainly still up in the air.
