New England Patriots Re-Sign Linebacker

Linebacker Mack Wilson has re-signed with the New England Patriots, according to reports. The one-year contract is worth an undisclosed amount.

He was acquired from the Cleveland Browns last year in exchange for Chase Winovich.

Wilson played for the Patriots last season, recording 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

He also contributed on special teams and played in 20.9 percent of the team's defensive snaps. However, Wilson did not see the field in the final five games.

While the Houston Texans reportedly showed interest in Wilson, his return to the Patriots is expected to be a depth signing.

Entering his fifth NFL season, the 25-year-old has recorded 199 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and 10 passes defended across 60 games played.

He's a former fifth-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2019 NFL Draft.
