New York Giants Sign Sought-After Free Agent Linebacker

The New York Giants have made a move to bolster their linebacker corps by signing Bobby Okereke to a four-year, $40 million deal with $22 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Giants fans will remember Okereke from this past season when he recorded 17 tackles against New York in the Giants' playoff-clinching win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Okereke, formerly of the Colts, has been an every-down player for the past two seasons, increasing his tackle total each year and recording 151 stops in 2022.

While he was listed as a weak-side linebacker in Indianapolis, his exact position with the Giants is yet to be determined. However, given his speed and ability to make plays, it is likely that the Giants will use him as a weapon to strengthen their tackling.

Okereke fills a major need for the Giants, who were in on TJ Edwards before he signed with the Chicago Bears, and is sliding into a spot that desperately needed to be addressed.

He was one of the more sought-after linebackers in this offseason's free agency class.

The 26-year-old has spent all four seasons of his NFL career with the Colts, recording 420 tackles, two sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, three interceptions and 17 passes defended over 64 games played.
