New York Jets Release Two Players

The New York Jets have made some changes to their roster as they waived both wide receiver Rodney Adams and defensive back Zane Lewis.

Lewis, who had been on the injured reserve for the past two seasons after suffering a knee injury during joint practices with the Green Bay Packers in 2021, was showing promise at safety after switching from cornerback in the summer of that year.

Meanwhile, Adams had been buried deep down the Jets' wide receiver depth chart, behind notable prospects like Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Denzel Mims, Jeff Smith, and Irvin Charles.

Adams, a fifth-round selection by the Minnesota Vikings in 2017, has only played in one NFL game and failed to make a catch on his lone target during nine offensive snaps with the Chicago Bears in 2021.

Despite ending the 2022 season on the reserve/non-football illness list, Adams was waived without an injury designation, indicating that he is now healthy heading into the summer.

However, his lack of production and experience in the league may make it challenging for him to secure a spot on an NFL roster. Adams may have to settle for a practice squad gig in 2023 if he hopes to continue his pursuit of a career in the league.
