NFL Rumors: Carolina Panthers Emerging As Favorites To Trade Up For Quarterback

The Carolina Panthers are emerging as a potential favorite to trade up in this year's NFL draft to secure their franchise quarterback.

According to sources at the recent NFL combine, the Panthers are expected to be aggressive in their efforts to move up from their current No. 9 overall pick, possibly targeting the Chicago Bears' No. 1 pick.

The Panthers have struggled with inconsistent quarterback play since 2018 and recently hired Frank Reich as their new head coach, who is known for his work with quarterbacks.

With options such as Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis available, the Panthers may look to secure their future signal-caller early on in the draft.

Meanwhile, the Bears are reportedly open to trading their top pick for a package that could include future first-rounders. While it remains to be seen if the Panthers will secure the top pick, they could also consider re-signing Sam Darnold to serve as insurance under center even if they do acquire their desired quarterback.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles recently said he knows he can get a "2024 first-rounder and a 2025 first-rounder" for this year's top pick, so we'll have to wait and see if Carolina is willing to give up that much. Photo Credit:  Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports
