Pittsburgh Steelers Re-Sign Tight End

The Pittsburgh Steelers have decided to re-sign tight end Zach Gentry, as confirmed by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Gentry, a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has spent his entire NFL career with the Steelers, making 25 starts in 34 games over the past two seasons.

He is known for his versatility as a blocker and all-around tight end and forms a duo with Pat Freiermuth, the team's primary TE.

Entering his fourth NFL season, the 26-year-old has amassed 39 receptions for 303 yards and zero touchdowns on 49 targets across 38 games played.

Despite his return, he likely won't have any impact on Freiermuth's targets or role on the team.

The Steelers are also not expected to pursue a tight end in the upcoming draft, given Gentry's re-signing, despite April's draft being touted as the "strongest tight end draft class ever." Photo Credit:  Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports
