NFL Rumors: 49ers Meeting With Former 1st-Round Wide Receiver

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly exploring options to add more depth to their wide receiver position, including looking at free agent Laquon Treadwell.

The former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2016 has struggled to establish himself in the league, having played for four different teams over seven seasons, recording 110 catches for 1,226 yards and five touchdowns.

Treadwell had his best season in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, catching 33 passes for 434 yards and one touchdown in 12 games. However, his production dipped significantly in 2022 when he played for the Seattle Seahawks, catching only six passes for 42 yards in six games.

Despite his underwhelming performance, Treadwell's status as a former first-round pick and potential upside make him an attractive option for the 49ers.

With just seven wide receivers currently on their offseason roster, the team is looking to add more depth at the position, whether through free agency or the NFL draft.

While Treadwell's impact on the team would likely be limited, he could provide valuable depth and competition during training camp.

The 49ers are exploring all options to build a strong roster for the upcoming season, and Treadwell could be a low-risk, high-reward addition if he signs with the team. Photo Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
