Pittsburgh Steelers Sign Free Agent Defensive Tackle

After spending the first three seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, defensive tackle Armon Watts signed on with the Chicago Bears for the 2022 season.

Now, he's joining a new team, as he's signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to his agent David Canter of GSE Football.

Despite receiving below-average defensive marks against the run in every professional season, Watts has made 21 starts over the past two years for both the Vikings and Bears.

However, his proficiency as a pass rusher makes him a valuable addition to the Steelers' defensive line.

In the 2022 season with the Bears, Watts played in all 17 games, starting 12 and accumulating 35 tackles. Now with the Steelers, he will compete for a starting position at defensive tackle against Breiden Fehoko and Montravius Adams.

For his career, the 26-year-old has recorded 125 total tackles, eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass defended across 57 games. Photo Credit: Matt Blewett-USA TODAY Sports
