New York Jets Sign Former Green Bay Packers Offensive Lineman

The New York Jets are continuing their mission to make recently acquired quarterback Aaron Rodgers as comfortable as possible. The team officially announced the signing of former Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos offensive lineman Billy Turner on Monday.

Turner joins the Jets on a one-year, $3.15 million contract. He played along with Rodgers on the Packers from 2019 to 2021, starting 43 games at right tackle and right guard. He appeared in eight games for the Denver Broncos in 2022, earning a middling 56.3 overall grade from Pro Football Focus for his efforts.

Turner joins wide receiver Allen Lazard as former Packers set to link up with Rodgers on the Jets. The trio were all present on the 2020 and 2021 Packers teams that earned Rodgers consecutive MVPs.

Entering his age-32 season, Turner has never been a true star in the league, but he should provide depth and versatility for the Jets as well as another trusted face for Rodgers as he adjusts to his new surroundings. Turner should compete for reps with tackle Mekhi Becton and Alijah Vera-Tucker.
