NFL Rumors: New York Jets Star Running Back May Not Be Ready for Training Camp

The New York Jets are one of the NFL's most intriguing teams heading into the 2023 season, but one of their most promising young players is still a major question mark. Per the Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, it would be "surprising" if running back Breece Hall were available for the beginning of training camp.

Hall tore his ACL in the Jets' Week 16-9 win over the Denver Broncos. Prior to the injury, he was off to a remarkably fast start to his NFL career, rushing for an impressive 463 yards at a dominant 5.8 yards per carry while also adding 218 receiving yards at an efficient 7.0 yards per target across seven appearances.

The Jets have expressed excitement over Hall's recovery and remain confident he'll be ready in time for the regular season. Still, he has yet to participate fully in any offseason activities.

Hall thoroughly delivered on all expectations after the Jets spent the 36th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft on him, and he should be an x-factor on a team looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

If Hall can pick up where he left off in 2022, the Jets could have a running game imposing enough to open things up for recently acquired quarterback Aaron Rodgers. If not, the Jets may have to turn to a high-volume passing attack. Excluding Hall's production, the Jets totalled a mere 1223 rushing yards at a middling 3.8 yards per attempt last season.
