Panthers Release Two Players

The Carolina Panthers announced on Thursday that they have released quarterback Jacob Eason and wide receiver Preston Williams as they head into OTA's next week.

Eason appeared in only one game for the Carolina club last year posting 3/5 passes for 59 yards, and one interception. He was originally selected by the Colts as a fourth-rounder in 2020, and would only play in one game for Indianapolis in 2021.

The NFC South club has multiple options at their quarterback position including Matt Corral, Andy Dalton, and Bryce Young, who the Panthers selected No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Williams, much like Eason, only played in one game for the Panthers last season, and originally signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2019. He spent his first three seasons as a pro in Miami in which he posted 56 catches for 787 yards, and seven touchdowns in 24 games.
