Carolina Panthers Sign Free Agent Wide Receiver

Former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver Javon Wims has signed with the Carolina Panthers for the upcoming NFL season.

After being drafted in the seventh round by the Chicago Bears in 2018, Wims spent three impactful years with the team, amassing 28 receptions for 266 yards and two touchdowns.

However, he was waived by the Bears in 2021 and later had brief stints with the Arizona Cardinals and the Cleveland Browns before finding himself on the Panthers' radar.

In 2022, Wims appeared in one game with the Arizona Cardinals before joining the Panthers for training camp.

He is now determined to secure a role on Carolina's roster or potentially earn a spot on their practice squad as they gear up for the preseason.

During his college years at Georgia from 2016 to 2017, Wims showcased his talent, racking up impressive statistics with 45 catches, 720 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns in the 2017 season.

As the season approaches, Wims will strive to make a significant impact on the Panthers' offense and demonstrate the skills that made him a standout player in college and earned him recognition during his time with the Chicago Bears.

Panthers fans will be eager to see how he performs and contributes to the team's success during the upcoming NFL campaign. Photo Credit: Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports
