Detroit Lions Sign 8-Year Veteran Quarterback

The Detroit Lions have made a notable move by signing free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to an undisclosed deal.

After a successful visit with the team, Bridgewater will be stepping into the backup quarterback role for the 2023 regular season.

This decision comes after the unfortunate knee injury of rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker, who is expected to take a medical redshirt year.

Bridgewater's experience and familiarity with head coach Dan Campbell make him an ideal candidate to provide valuable depth behind the Lions' starting quarterback, Jared Goff.

Throughout the training camp and preseason, Bridgewater will compete with Nate Sudfeld for the backup job.

In 2022, Bridgewater had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins, where he played in five games and started two.

Despite limited playing time, he showcased his abilities by throwing for 683 yards, recording four touchdowns, and four interceptions on 79 passing attempts.
