Baltimore Ravens Sign 4-Time Pro Bowl Running Back Dalvin Cook

The Baltimore Ravens are adding some reinforcements just in time for the playoffs. Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, former Minnesota Vikings star running back Dalvin Cook is signing with the AFC's top seed after being waived by the New York Jets earlier this week.

Cook signed with the Jets in August on a one-year, $7 million deal. He was released by the Vikings in June despite 6423 yards from scrimmage and four straight Pro Bowl seasons from 2019 to 2022.

Cook never really found a place for himself in the miserable Jets offense this year, totalling a mere 214 rushing yards while averaging an ineffectual 3.2 yards per attempt over 15 appearances. Promising second-year back Breece Hall devoured most of the available touches, handling 186 attempts. There simply wasn't much left to go around; the Jets rank 31st in rush attempts through 17 weeks with 346.

Getting waived by the Jets couldn't have worked out much better for Cook. Not only is he latching on with a Super Bowl favorite, he's also joining one of the league's very best rushing attacks; the Ravens rank first in rushing attempts (516), yards (2555), and touchdowns (26) this season, and third in rushing yards per attempt (5.0).

With the recent injury to rookie Keaton Mitchell, Cook could rise as high as second on the Ravens' running back depth chart, but his days as a star in the league are likely behind him. He'll compete with Melvin Gordon and Justice Hill for touches behind lead back Gus Edwards.
