NFL Rumors: Bill Belichick Linked To Surprising Destination
Following the Jaguars’ dismal 0-3 start to the 2024 season under Doug Pederson, NFL insider Albert Breer suggested on The Dan Patrick Show that the franchise could consider a change if Pederson’s struggles continue.
Breer emphasized Belichick's strong relationship with Jaguars ownership, particularly Tony Khan, the team's chief football strategy officer and son of owner Shad Khan.
"Tony Khan has a really strong relationship with Belichick," Breer noted, adding that the veteran coach had previously advised the Jaguars to hire Doug Marrone in 2017.

Jacksonville entered the season with high expectations, as Shad Khan referred to the 2024 roster as “the best team assembled by the Jacksonville Jaguars, ever,” but the team's early failures have increased the pressure on Pederson.
With critical AFC South matchups and the Jaguars' annual trip to London looming, Breer believes the Khans could consider a reset if things don’t improve, and Belichick could be an ideal candidate to stabilize the franchise.
Breer highlighted the broader implications of hiring a coach of Belichick’s stature, particularly with upcoming renovations to EverBank Stadium.
“When you’re renovating your stadium... you’ve got suites to sell, sponsorships to sell. Do you need some more credibility?” Breer pondered, suggesting Belichick’s Hall of Fame credentials could bring the credibility the team needs.

Belichick, now in his first year away from the NFL since 1975, has ventured into media roles, but his desire to return to coaching and surpass Don Shula’s all-time wins record remains.
With the opportunity to work alongside a young quarterback like Trevor Lawrence and exert significant control over the organization, the Jaguars could present an intriguing option for Belichick.
“There’s some things that line up there where I wouldn’t totally rule out that as a viable possibility for Belichick in 2025,” Breer concluded, leaving open the possibility of a new chapter for the legendary coach in Jacksonville.
