NFL Trade Rumors: Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill May Need Wrist Surgery
The Miami Dolphins' best player could be forced to manage a meaningful injury for the rest of the regular season. Speaking with the media on Thursday, Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill revealed that he has been battling a wrist injury for the entire 2024 season.
If the Dolphins can maintain their competitiveness over the coming weeks, they'll have a chance to secure a Wildcard spot in an AFC that lacks depth. Hill is one of the league's most valuable wide receivers, and as long as the postseason remains a possibility, it makes sense for him to gut out his injury. However, if the Dolphins lose a few games and fall out of contention, he should probably consider shutting it down early so he can come back strong for the 2025 regular season.
Hill also explained that he has opted out of undergoing any procedures during the season and intends to play through the pain for the Dolphins' final eight games. He has reportedly been dealing with the injury since August and is considering offseason surgery.🎥 Tyreek Hill reveals he has opted out of wrist surgery and he will play through the injury: "I just got to suck it up and just deal with the pain... it's my call at the end of the day and my call is to stay out on the field." Hill's injury helps explain his recent dip in production. After averaging a ludicrous 106.3 receiving yards per game and 10.3 yards per target over his first two seasons with the Dolphins, Hill has labored to 51.3 receiving yards per game and 7.7 yards per target through nine appearances this year.
The Dolphins are sitting on a 3-6 record, but they have reasons for optimism for the season's closing stretch. Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is back after missing four starts due to a concussion, and they're clearly a different team with him on the field. Over Tagovailoa's five starts, the Dolphins have scored a respectable 21.4 points per game compared to a mere 10.0 points per game without him.
