Report: Insider Reveals Which Team Bill Belichick Is Eyeing To Be Next Head Coach

Legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick may have identified his next destination.

According to insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the six-time Super Bowl champion is eyeing the Jacksonville Jaguars as his preferred landing spot should they move on from current head coach Doug Pederson.

Speaking on her Scoop City podcast, Russini stated, “There’s a lot of chatter about Bill Belichick taking that job, and I can tell you that Belichick certainly has his eye on this Jacksonville opening.”

With the Jaguars sitting at a disappointing 2-9 this season, sweeping changes seem likely, potentially clearing the way for Belichick’s arrival.

The allure of Jacksonville lies in its potential for growth.

The team boasts a talented young roster led by franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence, a cornerstone piece any coach would covet. Additionally, owner Shad Khan’s reputation as a hands-off executive and willingness to spend aligns with Belichick’s preference for full control over football operations.

However, Russini raised questions about whether the team would accommodate his demands. “The question is… is he gonna get the keys to the castle?” she asked, hinting at the uncertain future of general manager Trent Baalke.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer echoed similar sentiments, suggesting Belichick would likely require a full organizational reset before considering the role.

At 72 years old and just 27 wins away from breaking Don Shula’s all-time coaching record, Belichick’s next move is being closely watched.

While Jacksonville offers the chance to rebuild a struggling franchise from the ground up, competition for his services could come from teams with more immediate playoff potential.

Still, the combination of Lawrence, cap space, and a young roster makes the Jaguars a uniquely appealing challenge for one of football’s greatest minds as he seeks to cement his legacy.
