Report: Raiders Pursuing Deal For Super Bowl MVP

The Las Vegas Raiders are showing interest in former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, but only if the price is right.

According to The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, the Raiders could pursue Kupp following his release from the Rams on Wednesday. The team was unable to find a trade partner for the remaining two years and $57 million on his contract, making him a free agent.

Kupp, projected by Spotrac to earn around $11 million annually, has dealt with injuries in recent years, but he still managed 710 yards and six touchdowns last season despite missing time with a high ankle sprain.

Las Vegas recently traded for quarterback Geno Smith and is looking to upgrade its receiving corps after moving on from Davante Adams last season. While tight end Brock Bowers and wideout Jakobi Meyers both surpassed 1,000 yards in 2024, the team lacks depth behind them.

New head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly could see Kupp as a valuable veteran presence.

“There are several solid options in the draft, as well as other veterans available like Stefon Diggs, but Kupp may be the best wide receiver on the market,” Sports Illustrated’s Levi Dombro wrote, adding that the Raiders are “smart to entertain the idea.”

However, Las Vegas faces competition, as teams like the Green Bay Packers are also in the market for a reliable target.

The biggest question is whether Kupp, now 31, would be willing to join a team that finished 4-13 last season. While the Raiders expect improvement, they remain in a tough division with the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and Denver Broncos.

“The chances of Kupp taking a discount to join a non-contending team are slim,” Reed noted, making it unclear whether Las Vegas will be his next destination.
