Titans Cut Former 1st-Round Pick Wide Receiver After Devastating Injury

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks runs with the ball during 2024 game.

The Tennessee Titans have waived wide receiver Treylon Burks with an injury designation after the 2022 first-round pick suffered a fractured collarbone in training camp.

Burks, 24, was injured making a diving catch on July 26, marking yet another setback in a career derailed by health issues.

Burks’ Time in Tennessee Cut Short

Burks was drafted 18th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft with the pick the Titans acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in the A.J. Brown trade. Expected to become Brown’s replacement, the former Arkansas standout never found consistency.

Across three injury-plagued seasons, he appeared in only 25 games, recording 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown. His rookie campaign in 2022 (33 catches, 444 yards) remains his most productive.

What’s Next?

If Burks clears waivers, he will revert to Tennessee’s injured reserve, though an injury settlement could follow. The Titans filled his roster spot by signing receiver Ramel Keyton.

With new additions like Tyler Lockett, Van Jefferson, and rookies Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike already bolstering the depth chart, Burks’ chances of carving out a role had diminished even before his latest injury.
