NFL Rumors: Jets Lose Star Guard For Season In Devastating Blow
The New York Jets have suffered a major blow just days before their season opener.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker has a season-ending torn triceps, marking yet another devastating setback for one of the team’s best offensive linemen.

Jets Lose Alijah Vera-Tucker to Season-Ending Injury
Replacing Vera-Tucker won’t be easy. Per ESPN, the Jets plan to shift starting center Joe Tippmann over to right guard, while former Green Bay Packers lineman Josh Myers will slot in at center.
The reshuffling leaves rookie right tackle Armand Membou without Vera-Tucker next to him, a pairing the Jets had hoped would form the foundation of a run-heavy attack alongside quarterback Justin Fields, running back Breece Hall, and rookie power back Braelon Allen.

For Vera-Tucker, the injury is another crushing blow in a career already riddled with durability concerns. Drafted 14th overall in 2021, he missed 22 games across 2022 and 2023 with a torn triceps and a torn Achilles before bouncing back in 2024 to rank as Pro Football Focus’ ninth-best guard.
Entering free agency after this season, his injury timing is brutal for both his market value and the Jets’ playoff hopes. Without their top blocker, New York faces a steep challenge in keeping its run-first offense afloat in 2025.
