The New York Giants have made it clear they are not shopping Kayvon Thibodeaux ahead of next week’s trade deadline.
Despite speculation that the star edge rusher could be on the move, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports that multiple teams have inquired and been told the Giants have “no interest” in trading him.
The 2022 No. 5 overall pick remains a core piece of New York’s long-term plans after the team exercised his fifth-year option, keeping him under contract through 2026.

Giants holding firm on Thibodeaux’s future
While the Giants sit at 2-6, insiders like Jordan Schultz suggested Thibodeaux might be a “name to watch” with his production dipping since his breakout 2023 season.
However, New York isn’t budging.
General manager Joe Schoen’s first draft selection has become a foundational part of the defense, now lining up alongside Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter. According to Ian Rapoport, the front office isn’t interested in “tearing down” a defensive front it spent the past two years building.

Why the Giants are keeping their pass-rusher
Thibodeaux has tallied 21 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and five tackles for loss through eight games while posting one of the league’s best run-defense grades per Pro Football Focus. His 83.1 mark ranks third among 119 eligible edge defenders.
Though consistency has been a question in his young career, New York sees the 24-year-old as a franchise cornerstone rather than trade bait.
