NFL Rumors: Pete Carroll Predicted to be One-and-Done in Vegas

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll reacts during 2025 game.

The Las Vegas Raiders entered 2025 hoping Pete Carroll’s experience would stabilize a franchise stuck in a cycle of failed coaching hires.

Instead, they’ve landed in another freefall. Sitting at 2–11 and riding a seven-game losing streak, Carroll has already fired two assistants and struggled to draw improvement from a roster that was rebuilt around him and quarterback Geno Smith.

Despite his desire to keep coaching into 2026, league insiders now widely expect the Raiders to move on after just one season, continuing an alarming pattern for a franchise that has burned through five head coaches in five years.

Pete Carroll’s Future With Raiders in Serious Doubt as Season Spirals

While Carroll’s seat grows hotter by the week, new general manager John Spytek appears far more secure. Spytek’s longstanding relationship with part-owner Tom Brady has solidified his standing even as the organization collapses on the field.

The Raiders’ issues run far deeper than coaching alone: Smith has regressed significantly, the offensive line remains a liability, and the roster lacks cohesion after sweeping offseason changes.

If Carroll is dismissed, the Raiders could again face the daunting task of pairing a new head coach with yet another new starting quarterback in 2026.

The bigger question is whether Las Vegas can remain an attractive job at all. Around the league, executives increasingly view the Raiders as a destination where coaches get fired quickly, but still collect large buyouts.
