NFL Rumors: Brian Daboll Gets Head Coach Interview With Surprising Team

The Tennessee Titans are bringing Brian Daboll into the building, with multiple reports saying the former New York Giants head coach is scheduled to interview Friday for Tennessee’s vacant job.

It is a notable pivot point for a search that keeps widening, because Daboll is one of the clearer offense first candidates available and the Titans’ biggest priority is getting quarterback Cam Ward on a real upward track.

Why the Titans are circling Brian Daboll

Daboll’s Giants tenure ended fast in 2025, but the resume still has a real peak.

He won NFL Coach of the Year in 2022 after taking New York to the playoffs and beating the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round, then finished his run with a 20-40-1 record and was fired midseason when things cratered.

That arc is exactly why his name is popping in two lanes right now, head coach interviews like this one and also offensive coordinator interest elsewhere, because teams still respect the offensive brain even if the head coaching results went sideways.

What Daboll could mean for Cam Ward

If Tennessee is serious about hiring an offensive coach, the Daboll angle ties directly to Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

Ward’s rookie year had rough edges but also enough flashes to sell a development plan: 3,169 passing yards, 59.8% completions, 15 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, plus 159 rushing yards and two rushing scores

Daboll’s calling card is quarterback growth from his coordinator stops, most famously in Buffalo, and the Titans are basically telling you what they want by lining up this interview.

They are looking for a coach who can install structure, speed up a young QB’s processing, and make the weekly plan feel like a structured blueprint rather than a survival mode, like it looked this season.
