Jets targeting Demario Davis after career-best season
At 37 years old, Davis is coming off a career-high 143 total tackles, proving he is far from finished.
He has now appeared in 227 career games with 213 starts, piling up 1,536 tackles, 45 sacks, 116 tackles for loss, 104 quarterback hits, four interceptions, and five All-Pro selections along the way.

Davis originally entered the league as the Jets’ third-round pick in 2012 and spent four seasons in New York before a brief stop with the Cleveland Browns.
The Jets traded to bring him back in 2017, where he posted 135 total tackles and five sacks in a standout return year. He then signed with the Saints and has been the heartbeat of their defense for eight seasons, earning two Pro Bowl nods and consistently grading among the league’s top linebackers, including a top-six PFF ranking in 2025.
Saints face real competition as Jets circle
The Saints are working a tight cap situation and sit above the projected limit entering the new league year, which complicates retaining Davis at market value.
Spotrac projects his next deal around $9 million to $9.5 million annually, a figure well within reach for the Jets, who are projected to have roughly $88 million in cap space and the flexibility to outbid competitors.

After a disappointing 2025 campaign, New York needs a tone-setter in the middle of its defense, and Davis just proved he can still produce at an elite level.
