Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox placed Wagner at the top of his list of the best remaining free agents ahead of training camp.
"It always feels like there's at least one NFL star who can successfully stiff-arm Father Time until he's finally ready to call it a career," Knox wrote.
Wagner appeared in all 17 games for Washington last season, racking up 162 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, eight tackles for loss, and four passes defended while joining the 2,000-career-tackle club.
He also sits just 60 tackles away from breaking Ray Lewis's all-time career record, a mark he could realistically reach by midseason.

Dallas Cowboys
Knox named the Cowboys the most logical landing spot, citing their prevailing issues at inside linebacker.
Dallas has been mentioned as a destination for months, and the argument is that Wagner can still help if a defense is built to mask his coverage limitations.
The caveat, per Cowboys analyst Tom Downey, is that Wagner is not signing anywhere to be a backup, so Dallas would need to offer a legit starting role.
"Why would he sign a deal and then end up stuck in backup duty? That doesn't make sense for anybody involved," Downey said.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars check a lot of boxes.
Jacksonville's linebacker depth behind Foyesade Oluokun is not well established for a team with aspirations of taking another step in 2026, and Wagner would provide championship experience and insurance.
He has not worked with any of the Jaguars' defensive coaches, but he crossed paths with GM James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen during his season with the Rams, so they know exactly what he brings.
A quality roster, a franchise quarterback, and no state income tax make Jacksonville appealing from Wagner's side as well.
Chicago Bears
The Bears have continued to surface in rumors involving Wagner.
Per Last Word on Sports' Anthony Palacios, Chicago is among the teams viewed as a realistic landing spot, and the Bears could use a respected veteran leader in the middle of a defense that needs stabilizing.
Washington can effectively be ruled out after the Commanders drafted Sonny Styles in the first round and signed Leo Chenal and Odafe Oweh, indicating a clear move toward getting younger and more athletic.
Wagner has said he intends to keep playing, and at this stage, the fit likely comes down to which team can promise him snaps.
