Siemian was let go with a non-football injury designation after recently re-aggravating a calf issue that had already kept him out of OTAs and minicamp.

He arrived with over 30 career starts and 11 years of experience across seven organizations, including a stint working under new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski back in 2018 with the Vikings, when Stefanski was Minnesota's quarterbacks coach.
Because Siemian was signed to a veteran minimum deal with no guaranteed money, the move carries no dead cap hit for Atlanta.
What's Next
With Siemian out, the Falcons are down to three quarterbacks on the roster.
Strand now has a clearer runway to lock down the No. 3 job, though the far bigger storyline in Atlanta remains the ongoing competition between Tagovailoa and Penix for the Week 1 starting job.
