GM Brian Gutekunst addressed the situation with reporters. "We've obviously been prepared for that in case that happens," Gutekunst said. "That doesn't mean we wouldn't do that, but yeah, we'll deal with that when that comes."
Legal Situation
Jacobs was arrested in late May in Hobart, Wisconsin, on suspicion of battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim, stemming from a domestic disturbance call.
He was released from custody days later after prosecutors said they weren't prepared to make a formal charging decision and requested further investigation.
His attorneys have said he "vehemently denies the allegations," and as of late August, the Brown County District Attorney's Office still hadn't filed formal criminal charges, describing the case as "still open."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the situation remains "under review" by the league, and any discipline would fall under the NFL's personal conduct policy rather than a criminal conviction.
The policy's baseline for a family violence violation is a six-game unpaid suspension, though outcomes have varied recently. Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore had similar charges dropped in March and won't miss any games this year, while Browns running back Quinshon Judkins had his charges dropped last year and ultimately missed just the season opener.
Green Bay Feels Covered Either Way
Gutekunst made clear the team isn't panicking about its depth chart regardless of the outcome. "I'm pretty confident we can sustain it," he said, pointing to MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks as the players who'd carry a larger workload if Jacobs is out.
Brooks has been the more consistent option in relief duty over the past three seasons, while Lloyd has appeared in just one game since 2024.

Jacobs is also dealing with a groin injury separate from the legal matter, though that issue isn't expected to keep him out of Green Bay's lineup if he's eligible to play in Week 1.
He's coming off a First-Team All-Pro season after signing with the Packers in 2024 following five years with the Raiders, making him one of the most important pieces of Green Bay's offense heading into the year.
