49ers & Browns Linked To Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Trade

The San Francisco 49ers' receiver room has been hit hard by injuries, and one analyst believes the fix could be sitting in Cleveland.

Bleacher Report's Moe Moton named Browns wideout Jerry Jeudy as a "bargain bin" trade target for San Francisco this week.

"With a laundry list of injuries at wideout, the 49ers need a long-term fit at the position," Moton wrote. "Play-calling head coach Kyle Shanahan may be able to resurrect Jerry Jeudy's career."

The 49ers are 2-0 but dealing with a lot of attrition at receiver.

Demarcus Robinson suffered a high ankle sprain and is a candidate for injured reserve, Mike Evans is managing a hip injury, and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling is already out for roughly 10 weeks after ankle surgery.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has acknowledged the team could look outside the building for help if the injuries keep piling up.

Why Jeudy Could Use A Fresh Start Too

Jeudy's situation in Cleveland has quietly deteriorated.

General manager Andrew Berry called him the "bell cow" of the Browns' receiver corps over the offseason, but through two games this year, Jeudy has just two catches for 26 yards on five targets, and he didn't record a single reception in Cleveland's Week 2 win over Tampa Bay.

Rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion have already passed him on the target chart, each drawing 11 looks through two weeks, with the Browns' new coaching staff clearly building around younger pieces.

The decline is a steep one. Jeudy posted a career-best 1,229 receiving yards and 90 catches in 2024, a Pro Bowl season, before dropping to 602 yards last year as Cleveland's offense fell apart.

Moton believes a change of scenery, and a quarterback like Brock Purdy throwing him the ball, could be exactly what revives him. "Jeudy is only two years removed from a Pro Bowl year in which he caught 90 passes for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns," Moton wrote. "Still in his prime, the 27-year-old can be an asset to the 49ers' injury-riddled receiver unit."
