Lions & Steelers Talking Trade

For most of the summer, this looked like a stalemate with no real third option.

Now it's turning into an actual trade market.

Steelers Done Talking Extension

Gerry Dulac reported that Pittsburgh is "done talking" about a new deal and won't revisit contract discussions, a firm stance that usually gets walked back but carries more weight given how far apart the two sides reportedly are.

The cornerback sat out Pittsburgh's season opener, officially due to a back injury, though the contract standoff is believed to be the real story.

He'd reportedly requested a trade at one point, even if earlier reports softened that to him merely considering it.

Either way, Pittsburgh is now willing to listen on offers, and it sounds like the asking price starts around a first-round pick with more day two capital attached.

Detroit Has Already Called

According to Detroit reporter Jeff Risdon, the Lions have reached out to Pittsburgh about Porter's availability, confirmed independently from a source on the Steelers' side.

Detroit's secondary got exposed in their season-opening near-collapse against New Orleans, and the Lions already moved on from Terrion Arnold back in June, leaving a hole at corner.

They also have around $38 million in cap room to work with, though a string of expensive extensions elsewhere on the roster could complicate how far they're willing to go.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler listed Detroit as one of five plausible landing spots even before this call was reported.

Pittsburgh is reportedly seeking as much as two first-round picks to get a deal done, with one first-rounder plus an additional day two pick as the likely floor.
