Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox reiterated the connection this month, predicting the Giants send Thibodeaux to New England for a 2027 second-round pick.
"One of the Patriots' biggest weaknesses is their pass rush," Knox wrote. "While New England did sign Dre'Mont Jones and use a second-round pick on Illinois' Gabe Jacas, it also recorded just 34 sacks as a team last season."
Why He's Available At All
Thibodeaux entered the league as the fifth overall pick in 2022 and looked like a real building block after an 11.5-sack season, but his role has shrunk considerably since.
New York used its own fifth overall pick this year on Abdul Carter and already has Brian Burns entrenched as a starter, leaving Thibodeaux buried behind two more prominent edge rushers as he enters a contract year.
Injuries have compounded the problem, limiting him to just 22 games over the past two seasons and just 2.5 sacks last year across 10 appearances.

The Giants have been asking for a second-round pick and haven't shown signs of lowering that price, even as New England has been floated as a landing spot by multiple analysts over the past several months.
ESPN's Dan Graziano has suggested a deal could realistically come together by this season's trade deadline if Thibodeaux plays well early and the Giants determine they'd rather add draft capital than keep a rotational pass rusher on an expiring, $14.751 million contract.
New England Fits So Well
New England made the Super Bowl last season but still finished with just 34 total sacks as a team, and its depth behind Dre'Mont Jones remains a question mark heading into the year.
Multiple reporters, including NFL Network's Greg Auman, have pointed to that thin depth chart as the reason a Thibodeaux fit makes sense on paper.

The Giants have shown no urgency to move him below their price, in part because they can afford to be patient.
New York has legit depth at the position and playoff aspirations of its own if quarterback Jaxson Dart and receiver Malik Nabers stay healthy, giving the front office leverage to simply hold Thibodeaux and wait for a team desperate enough to meet the ask.
