Kansas City Chiefs Trying To Reunite With Tyreek Hill

The Chiefs reportedly didn't wait long to call Tyreek Hill.

According to The Athletic's Michael Silver, Kansas City reached out to Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, on Sunday night.

That was hours after receivers Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice both got hurt in the Chiefs' 30-27 win over Las Vegas.

Silver reports the Chiefs are "very interested" in signing Hill, citing several high-ranking organizational sources. He also reports the team was already interested in a reunion before Sunday.

On Monday, Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter he's beginning contract negotiations for Hill with multiple teams. "I would anticipate Tyreek potentially signing with a team over the next few days," Rosenhaus said.

Schefter noted Kansas City is one of the teams involved.

Kansas City's Interest Is No Longer Just Talk

Until this weekend, a Hill reunion was mostly something people said made sense.

Now there's contact between the team and his agent, and a timeline from Rosenhaus.

Silver says the Chiefs would need to be satisfied with Hill's recovery, but "there would likely be no other obstacles on the organization's end." His time in Kansas City ended on reasonably good terms, per Silver.

The players are on board, too.

"I know I'd love to have 'The Cheetah' back in this building," Travis Kelce said.

Chris Jones was shorter about it. "I hope we do. It'd be dangerous. Dangerous!"

Patrick Mahomes said it would be "pretty cool." Hill has said himself that he regrets leaving Kansas City, admitting it during a media tour before Super Bowl LIX.

Thornton's Injury Raised The Urgency

Thornton dislocated his ankle against the Raiders, and Rice left the game with a hamstring injury.

Hill posted a cryptic "hm" on Twitter after Thornton went down.

Hill is 32 and rehabbing the left knee injury he suffered in Week 4 of last season, a dislocation with multiple torn ligaments, including his ACL.

The Dolphins released him in February.

Silver reports Hill is believed to be targeting a November return.

Kansas City is on a bye this week, then faces the Chargers and plays at Seattle before opening November at Denver.

Hill spent six seasons with the Chiefs after they took him in the fifth round in 2016, and he's an eight-time Pro Bowler.
