Cowboys Linked To Trade For Cardinals' Star Pass Rusher
Fowler said he checked in with execs from other teams, noted that Dallas doesn’t have many draft picks but is always looking for help, and said Arizona, sitting at 2-4, could try to add draft capital.
He called edge rusher a position to watch before the November 10 deadline and left open whether Sweat is part of it.
What Fowler Said Earlier This Week
This follows Fowler’s Week 7 column Wednesday, when one team exec told him, “Josh Sweat to Dallas makes a lot of sense.”
Fowler added then that the Cowboys’ 2-4 record might make a move look shortsighted, but that it hardly matters in this year’s NFC East.

Jason La Canfora wrote the same day that a GM told him Jerry Jones will add a pass rusher before the deadline and predicted it would be Sweat or Maxx Crosby.
Fowler also noted Sweat has been linked to Green Bay, though the Packers will eventually get Micah Parsons back.
Dallas Needs A Pass Rush
The Cowboys rank 30th in total defense, 25th in scoring defense, and tied for 27th in sacks.
They already traded for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. earlier this season, which has left them short on draft capital for 2027.
Sweat is 29, signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract with the Cardinals in March 2025, and had 12 sacks last season.
He has two sacks and four QB hits in six games this year, and he carries a $16.3 million cap hit.
La Canfora reported the $17 million Sweat is due in each of 2027 and 2028 isn’t guaranteed, that he’s also unhappy with his contract, and that a GM said he has heard Sweat “wants out.”
Arizona general manager Monti Ossenfort said in the summer the team had “no interest” in trading him, and the Cardinals are 2-4 after beating the Rams on Sunday.
