2 Teams Ramping Up Jonathan Taylor Trade Talks

The New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings have been the most aggressive teams in looking for running backs on the trade market over the last couple of weeks, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Breer also reported the Colts have let teams know they’ll have to be blown away to trade Jonathan Taylor, though he didn’t say either team has made an offer for him.

What Breer Reported

Breer described a Christian McCaffrey-type return as his own estimate of Taylor’s price, which would be second, third, fourth, and fifth-round picks across two drafts, and not a confirmed Indianapolis demand.

The Giants are 4-2-1 and heading out of their bye week, and the Vikings are 6-1, with both teams ranking in the bottom third in yards per carry, according to Sportsnaut.

The Taylor Market

ESPN and NFL Network reported Friday that the Colts are open to trading Taylor, with the Broncos, Packers, Vikings, and Giants among the teams thought to have interest.

Taylor met with Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon this week and said he hasn’t asked for a trade, adding he’s “always proud to wear the horseshoe.”

Jordan Schultz reported a deal is “more likely than not,” and Indianapolis has no first-round pick in 2027.

Taylor is 27, a three-time Pro Bowler, and signed a two-year, $44 million extension in August.

He had 23 yards in Sunday’s loss at Jacksonville after leading the league with eight rushing touchdowns, and the Colts lost 42-7.
