Brutal News for San Francisco 49ers' George Kittle

The San Francisco 49ers were dealt a blow to their roster as tight end George Kittle was placed on the injured reserve on Saturday.

There was some expectations that Kittle was going to tough it out and play this week against the Arizona Cardinals, but as we can see now, that's not the case at all. One of the league's best will miss at least three weeks after being moved to the reserve list.

While Kittle will miss the Cardinals this time around, he's eligible to return in Week 9 when the two teams will duke it out once more in their rematch. Kittle is a huge part of the team's offense and the 49ers will use a tight end by committee approach moving forward.

In 57 career NFL games, Kittle has recorded 14 touchdowns and collected 3.806 receiving yards. So far in 2021, the beast of a tight-end has caught 19 passes for 227 yards, and had yet to record a score. Look for the 49ers to rely on wide out Deebo Samuel to carry the load in Kittles absence.
