NFL Rumors: 3 Teams Linked To Jimmy Garoppolo

According to Matt Lombardo, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Denver Broncos are all expected to pursue San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

With Trey Lance being ready to take over as starting QB of San Francisco, it understandably is making Garoppolo expendable. The latter even has stated to reporters that he expects to be moved during this offseason and hopes to have a say over where he ends up. When looking at the three teams that Lombardo has named, they each would make sense for the 30-year-old.

With Tom Brady announcing his retirement, Tampa Bay is in need of a new QB. It would be a cool storyline to see Garoppolo replace Brady, as that was initially the expectation when he was a member of the New England Patriots. However, a trade would also give them a proven veteran at the position and allow them to take their time with Kyle Trask.

Like Tampa Bay, the Steelers have lost their starting quarterback to retirement. Although Ben Roethlisberger wasn't as dominant during the later stages of his career, losing him has created a big hole at the position. They could run with Mason Rudolph as their starter, but Garoppolo would be a more proven option.

The Broncos could use an upgrade at QB, so it makes sense that they are being linked to Garoppolo. They just finished the year with a 7-10 record, so perhaps adding a veteran as their starter could help them jump a bit higher in the standings from here.

Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see where Jimmy G will end up from here.
