NFL Rumors: 3 Wide Receivers Expected to be Cut

The NFL free-agency period opens up in a few weeks and there will be some serious talent available for the picking. Turns out the list is already loaded and some teams could be adding to it as some cuts are expected between now and March 16. Let's take a look at three players expected to be cut this offseason:

Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys

While it's not ideal, it's likely the move as the Dallas Cowboys need to create some flexibility. Jerry Jones may have no choice but to cut Amari Cooper as the 27-year-old wideout appears set to hand over the #1 duties to Ceedee Lamb. Cooper put up only 865 yards and eight touchdowns last season and now has no money left on his contract that's guaranteed. Shedding Cooper from Big-D would save the Cowboys $16 million.

Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns

With Odell Beckham Jr gone, Jarvis Landry is next as the organization will be hitting the reset button on the wide out position. Landry struggled last season even as the number one offensive option at times and has never really got on the same page as Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. Cleveland can save $14.88 million with this release.

Nelson Agholor, New England Patriots

After a huge season with the Raiders organization Nelson Agholor secured the bag with the New England Patriots and frankly it hasn't worked out as planned. With a rush-heavy offense and a very conservative quarterback in Mac Jones, Agholor like many Pats wide outs didn't receive a ton of looks. If the Pats release Agholor they will have to eat $10 million in dead money in 2022 but appear to be open to the idea. Look for the Pats to look elsewhere this offseason to find Jones a bona fide #1 option.
