NFL Rumors: Bills Interested In Star Tight End
The Buffalo Bills are expected to pursue Rob Gronkowski if he hits the free agency market, according to Tim Graham of The Athletic.
With Tom Brady retiring, there have been rumblings that Gronkowski could follow suit. However, the 32-year-old has not commented on the matter. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also have not signed him to a contract yet, so there certainly is a chance that we could see Gronk hit the open market. If he does, Buffalo won't be the only team that pursues him.
However, if Gronkowski is to leave Tampa Bay, Buffalo seems like a perfect destination for him. The future Hall of Famer grew up in the area and was a fan of the Bills. With his career potentially nearing its completion, it would be cool to see him play a season with his hometown team. Furthermore, he could thrive playing with Josh Allen, as he has emerged into an elite quarterback.
Gronkowski had six touchdowns, 55 receptions, and 802 total yards with the Buccaneers last season. He is still an effective weapon at this juncture of his career, so he could be exactly what the Bills need to take that next step as contenders. He also comes with a fantastic resume in general, as he is a four-time Super Bowl champion, five-time Pro Bowler, and four-time All-Pro.
Alas, we will have to wait and see if Gronk ends up in Buffalo.
